Former Great Britain Test forward (1954 Lions) was the son of the 1936 Lions tourist of the same name. Silcock was appointed captain-coach of Easts in 1964 after playing in the Newcastle domestic competition.

    He captained South Newcastle when he first came here from Leeds in 1961 -1962.
