Biography
Hard-working second row forward, originally from the G’Coast, was a reserve for Easts in the 1972 grand final. After coaching Wests to a reserve grade premiership in 1981, Freier was named Coach of the Year at Easts in 1983 but the club sacked him the following year when the side lost 17 matches. His time at Wests ended the same way, replaced midway through the 1988 season by lower grade coach John Bailey.

TOUGH and a HARD man but a gentleman off the field,too much interferance at EASTS when he was COACH ! i worked with laurie at waverley council,THANKS Laurie !

Actually met him today In Nelson Bay having coffee.
What a true gentleman. I was very impressed with his history and life stories.

I was a trainer at East when Laurie coached there,in his last year there he knew very early on that Artie was coming the next season.
