Ipswich officials offered to play this match initially on September 16, however this was the date planned for the BRL Grand Final, thus Brisbane officials refused. Ipswich then suggested a midweek game under lights on September 20. Brisbane refused again. Ipswich suggested September 23. Brisbane again refused. It was then decided that the match be cancelled. The cause for Brisbane's reluctance was due to the game having no impact on the outcome of the Bulimba Cup, as Brisbane was the winner regardless of the result.
