Bob was the face of the best from the Bush - a stolen generation boy from the south coast near Nowra he forged a life for himself as a Sheerer in the summer and a player coach of Rugby League teams around the Bush - I put him in the League of Noel Crowe - both had enormous leadership skills and “ took no prisoners “ - natural leaders of men in Country Rugby League .
. I played against him ( Tumbarumba ) and subsequently with Batlow - - both clubs in the Snowy Valleys hinterland .
We would go into battles with him any-day - maybe without the “ Gaspers “ ie Cigarettes that sadly shortened his life - half time break !
Yes he made it look easy and backed down to no one - ask Rex Mossop !
A proud Indigenous leader - won’t forget him.
