Turned out to be a very useful golfer. Still playing off 16 in 2011 at Beverley Park. His golf bag is emblazoned with a Magpie, and he still wishes the merger with Balmain had not gone ahead.

It is with great sadness to inform you that my husband Wal Hinkley passed away on 5 April 2014. I would like to thank Carl Ross, Chow Hayes and fellow west players who attended his funeral and who performed a guard of honour. To the very end, Wal was always a Magpie.
