I wonder if this was the very same gifted athlete and footballer Graham Beavan who attended St Thomas' Lewisham

I played cricket with Graham in the 50s and he was the most gifted, natural all round athlete I have ever seen.

I remember him if the same guy. He was absolutely dominant in inter school athletics and its easy to remember how good he was. By my reckoning he was about 12 years old in 1956 when I left.

Certainly could be, the timing is about right because my estimate is Graham would have been born around 1945. I have always remembered what a natural talent he was and I wonder why we did not hear more of him.

I knew Graeme also known as fats from 1960 we lost contact when he went to Queensland and I to Darwin in 1974. He was ineque in that he was the toughest shy bloke you ever want to meet on the field off he was one of natures own gentleman. He loved a chat a beer and a punt with his. mates Steve foster and jack conna at the oriental hotel aka rubies concord.
He was an unwavering defender of the bullied he came to the aid of all being bullied.Fats was a success in all his sporting endeavours including cricket and athletics.
I remember his half time sprays in the dressing sheds at Goddard park whilst coaching concord united d grade in 1966. His inspiration lead to the team winning the comp that year.
Fats was a good bloke and friend
