Biography

Chunky Wyong centre came to Wests in 1963 and gave great service to the club during the 1960s. Ferguson was almost signed by Manly in 1968 but Wests put an exorbitant $10,000 transfer fee on him and he decided to stay with the club. Joining St George in 1972 he lived up to his reputation as one of the toughest competitors in the game and was one of the few players who could hold his head up after the thrashing the Dragons received in the 1975 grand final.

I didn't know Roy had passed away. Back in the '60's there wasn't a lot of tv coverage. Yet even in just the newspaper articles some players managed to stand out. Roy was one of those. RIP mate.

I did a paper run at the Carlton Newsagency when Roy owned it. He was a lovely bloke. Sad to read of his passing.
