Bob Lang was a great tackling half back and sadly had to retire early in his career, due to damage crutiate ligament. Played with greats, Ken Irvine, George Ambrum, Gary Banks, Dennis Cubis, John McDonald, Noel Cavanagh, Ross Warner, Lloyd Weire, Leo Toohey and many others. Those years were tough, hard tackling footballers who loved their game and wished they were playing todays game as full professionals, with the back up medical and training techniques of todays footballers. Imagine, Graeme Langlands, Bob Fulton, Billy Smith, Dennis Pittard, Ron Coote, John Raper, Elton Rassmusson, Dick Huddard, Ken Thornet, Dick Thornet, John Satler, John Oneil, John Morgan, Ray and Arthur Brannigan, Eric Simms, Steve Rogers, and other players of that era, 1960 to 1975, who all had a job and played football.
