This is my dad. I am so excited to have found this information on him. I am totally blown away.

Don Rodgers was my cousin and his nick name was Buck Rodgers. I would go with my parents to watch him play at Lidcombe Oval at the age of 13 years old.

I remember him Lisa. I was a Lidcombe boy and started following the Magpies as a kid about 1970. Don was my favourite player then.

I had the pleasure of playing with Don in 1981. He was our 5/8th. We won the comp Western Districts business houses first grade experience was invaluable. We also had John Bifida in that side. Don was a great bloke to be around. We were all sad to hear he had passed away at only 50. Don is on the Enfield Daily RLFC.

I went to school at Blaxcell street public Sth Granvillr. Don was in my class in primary and was always rugby mad . He worked as a butcher next door to where I worked in a grocery . He rode a motor bike to work . When I was 27 in 1975. I joined the Fire Brigade and he joined in 1976 and was stationed at HQ . I often saw and spoke to him at change of shift . He past away sudenly in 1998 He was always great to talk to and a realy nice bloke , a great loss .

Don was the centre of a conversation I had with old concord united players. Don was remembered as the toughest shy bloke you would ever want to meet. He and I chatted frequently at the butchers shop in Granville and at the fire station in Burwood. Don and I would get on the grog after training Tuesday and Thursday night after training at rubies he loved his motorbike
Don displayed a talent very rarely seem as a junior with concord united. Sport is not the only criteria when we remember our mates he was one of natures gentleman we his old mates at concord united we remember him as a good bloke.

Back in the late 60's, early 70's, Don Rogers would frequent my Pop/Uncle Jim, "Brown's Butcher Shop" in Queen St, Concord West. He'd call in after training with good mates, and fellow Western Suburbs Magpies players, Kevin Brown (my cousin) and Tom Raudonikis. I was only 6-8 years old at the time, but I recall, calling my cousins rugby league teammates, "Uncle Don" and "Uncle Tom" (RIP) like it was yesterday!
