Biography
Fiery Manly forward is remembered for the ugly clash with John Sattler in the 1970 grand final that left the Souths' captain with a smashed jaw. Bucknall lasted just 35 minutes of the match after recriminations from the Souths' pack. A capable forward, he later played for NSW in 1973.

Did John bucknall play for a Brisbane club against John sattler in the seventies.

While people often talk of the infamous incident in the 1970 grand final what is not often spoken is that John Bucknall achieved redemption in the 1973 grand final.

John played 5 t games for Manly between '69 and '73.

Bucknall played against Sattler in a interstate match. Sattler was playing for Queensland and according to Paul Vautin Sattler settled the score.
