I was too young to watch a lot of the old guys play only being born in 1976 but never get sick of running into the older country guys who played NRL and admiring the demeanour they posses. Met Doug today for the first time and thought jeez these young guys could learn a lot from generations past. A buddy system between past and present possibly???

Played with Doug in 74 at Oakdale Workers in Group 6. A very gifted ball player and an unbelievable competitor. As a young player I learned a lot about the game from Doug. One of the best I’ve seen either past or present.

I had the pleasure of playing with Doug at Oakdale Workers in Group Six in 1974. As a young bloke in his first year of 1st grade, Doug taught me a lot about the game. His Ball skills and competitiveness were first rate. Unfortunately Doug broke his arm in the major semifinal against Campbelltown City and I don’t think he played again after that. Great footballer and great bloke.
