Newsome was a great player who had his career cut short too early due to a car accident. What a career if he had not had to withdraw.

Peter was another of the many Blacktown juniors graded in 1973. He played fullback for the Panther & I fully concur with the comment that he was destined for a great career until the car accident. Peter, Ross Gibson (another Blacktown junior) andf Terry Wickey featured in a major sports story in the old Daily Mirror in about 1975 or 76 about their then "wealthy" contracts

Great player - should have been in the all time greats of the Panthers.

he was well ahead of the game and would have been a very wealthy and successful player. Well ahead of his times.

Pretty sure he was my captain 1970 blacktown workers premiers a fantastic player always gave it all good leader you gave your all for him

I played res grade with Peter Newsome in 1986 at st doms in the Penrith Junior rugby league he was a forward in them days.
