Besides his 1 game for Manly in the NSWRL in 1952 (his team-mates on the day included future ARL supremo Ken Arthurson, future Yachting great Syd Fischer and League greats Wally O'Connell & Gordon Willoughby), he played 5 Tests for the Wallabies and as cricketer, earned an Australian Tour of S.A. in 1949-50 with the likes of Lindsay Hassett, Arthur Morris, Keith Miller, Neil Harvey & Ray Lindwall, after topping the Sheffield Shield wicket tally in 1948/49 with 38 @ 13.34. For Nottingham in the 1956 County cricket season, he took 55 wickets including 4 wickets in 4 balls v Leicestershire with the last wicket in the first innings and the first 3 of the second.
