Billy Elliot was Captain Coach at Wee Was in 1970(?) and afterwards. This was in the CRL Group 4 Second Division competition. (Country Zone) I played several games under Bill. Moved backed to Tamworth because of work and played in the West Tamworth side that defeated Wee Was in the GF of that year. I remember Bill as a knowledgable player with obvious experience and a good bloke. Having played in Sydney he was held in some awe by us young and/or country players. His methods seemed professional with some outside the square activities. I especially recall going out to the Burren (Junction) bore on some Tuesday nights after training to relieve the soreness after a hard game. remember being a bit stunned by news of his death a few years later. All this is straight out of memory banks 54 years on. Col Burnes Ulladulla
