We haven't known Mr Threlfo very long but he is an inspiration to any sportsperson, child or adult. He is a gentleman that we have been lucky enough to have spent the last few months with. We love you Frank.

Frank Threlfo was the greatest three-quarter line player to play for Maitland, which he did from 1950 to 1965, with his two seasons at South Sydney (1952 & 1953) fitted in this period. Possessed with electric speed, a dynamic swerve, and a sharp side-step off either foot as well as being a tigerish tackler, he was loved both on and off the field as being a true gentleman. A family illness saw him return to Maitland in 1954, but did not deter his love of the game. When he retired he kept this love of the game up by heavy involvement in Junior Rugby League in the Maitland area for many, many years. A player and a man to be admired by all.

I never saw Frank Threlfo play but I have spoken to people that did and they say he was one of the greatest players to come from the coalfields.
