Listed in newspapers as J Sands or V Sands however Wests Archive have identified him as James Sandy who also played Rugby Union with Burwood Endeavour club in 1909 which is most probably why a different name was used and he was drafted in as Wests were often short of players in 1909.

Served in the AIF and Royal Flying Corp in WWI died during an aerial battle over France in 1917.
