Clinton Schifcofske

G’Coast lower grade player’s career almost ended before it began when he was suspended for returning a positive drug test in the mid 1990s. Schifcofske reclaimed his reputation and re-established his career setting modest records with the ill-fated South Queensland club – most points in a match (18pts in 1997), most points in a season (94pts in 1997) and most career points (108pts). Moving to P’matta, he proved to be a reliable goal-kicking winger/fullback but was released by the club at the end of 2000 and signed with Canberra. Settling in at his favoured position of fullback, he scored a club record 245pts in the 2001 season. Schifcofske continued to give great service to the Raiders in three subsequent seasons in which the club has made the play-offs and also represented Queensland (as a winger) in the opening match of the 2002 series. Schifcofske made a return to State of Origin in 2006, as fullback in the deciding third match of the series, before announcing that he would play for the Queensland Reds in the RU Super 14s competition the following year.
