Biography

Giant Brisbane centre overcame some physical and emotional growing pains to stamp his reputation as the most exciting prospect in the game during the 2006 season. Greg Inglis was a try-scoring sensation playing for Brisbane Norths as a 17 year-old in 2004 before joining Melbourne. Although he played in only 13 games with the Storm in 2005 he quickly marked himself as an explosive speedster who can create a try from anywhere on the playing field. The following year he scored 18 tries in 19 games including a spectacular, 60 metre effort against St George. Inglis made his State of Origin debut in 2006 and scored two tries in the first match of the series won narrowly, 17-16, by NSW. Queensland’s series win, and Melbourne’s charge into the grand final, kept the teenager in the forefront for selection in Australia’s Tri-Nations campaign. Despite losing the grand final to Brisbane Inglis capped a brilliant season by playing in all five Tests, including Australia’s 16-12, extra-time victory over NZ, in the final.

Inglis is the most powerful and athletic back i have ever seen , can win a game almost single handed , steamroll big forwards , and then leave the opposition quicks in his wake . Has the best fend in the modern game , and if the shoulder charge was still in the rule book , look out !.

Such a gifted athlete and footballer with an incredible ability to break the line. Inglis running in full flight is possibly the greatest thing I have ever seen in Rugby League. The balance and speed for such a big man is incredible, throw in that fend his sheer strength and he is virtually unstoppable. If there was a stat for pulling in opposition defenders to create tries for his team mates, Inglis would probably hold the record. Great to see him back in 2018.

Best ball runner I have ever seen. Also in origin I seen him smash front rowers like Klemmer and tauhmo from Penrith and many more big hits and plays in origin. What a freak he should be an immortal.

The most naturally gifted player I have ever watched in 40+ years. Agility, strength, raw power, unbelievable skill level, leadership by actions and humble as well!
What a ride watching him pay over the years. Will miss his solo feats that made Rugby league the standout game to watch when GI was "on his game".
