Lee was a very good player, and indeed should have been far more successful in his career. He was very well respected by both his team mates and his opponents, he suffered some appalling injuries, but kept bouncing back time after time. His tackling was usually fair but ferocious, that was in the days when a tackle was a tackle. His dummy half play was way ahead of his time, and he made a lot ordinary ball carriers look a lot better than they actually were.

I can only agree with the comments above, Lee was much better than it appears. A very intelligent player ahead of his time, and so unlucky with injuries. He went on to be a very good coach in the amateur game, and should still be involved in the modern game.

I totally agree with the above statement, a very good underachieving player, didn’t get the rub of the green re injuries. I liked listening to him on the radio, when he was a summariser for local radio, as he was very much into the modern game of RL.
