Jim, was an exceptionally good player at Spring View School. He played stand off back then. I will always remember we played St John Fisher in the semi-final off the Wigan schoolboys 1969. We had a scrum 2 yards from there try line, head and feed to us. I was playing loose forward, Jim whispered in my ear keep the pack down.
Jim collected the ball and dived on top of the pack and when the pack broke up Jim was over the line for a try. We won that day and went on to play All Saints in the final.
