Biography
Former Wests RU junior and NSW Colts rep was graded by the Magpies in 1976. Cooper won a premiership with Wests U23s in 1977 before moving to the forwards. At 1.96m, he used his height and speed to good effect and was selected for NSW in the inaugural State of Origin match in 1980. Two years later Cooper was handed a 15-month suspension when sent off after a vicious brawl in the match against I’warra. Although he played Australian Rules to keep fit during the enforced break, his career lost momentum when he joined Norths on his return.
