Biography
Tough Newtown prop was involved in two violent clashes during the 1981 season. The first was in the State of Origin match when Bowden was sin-binned with Queensland's Rod Morris after an all-in brawl. The second occasion cost him a place in the grand final when he was sent off with Manly's Terry Randall in the major semi-final after one of the ugliest brawls seen at the SCG.

Sorry to correct you. Terry Randall was sent off along with Bowden after kicking him in the head. Broadhurst played on with bad facial injuries.

Steve Bowden played 19 games in his first season. He had played 38 games up until 1980 according to his 1981 footy card. Was 188cm and 101kg.
