Talking to Dave Roderick on Sunday 2 nd July 2022 at the Goodna / Fassifern A/Grade match. Dave was telling me how he retired at 24 years of age,he was not injured in any way he simply retired due to his Parents Dairy farm business just outside Harrisville in the Fassifern Valley about 10/15 miles out of Ipswich.
Dave was telling me how the Queensland Team toured New Zealand and played 3 matches as a warm up to the 1972 Interstate series which was drawn with one win each. Although i never played aainst Dave Roderick i have been told he was a very hard man to line up against. A true gentleman.

I transferred from Innisfail Foley Shield to Norths Ipswich in 1973 and played against Dave Roderick from West End. Didn't know who he was but he was better than anyone in the 8 side west moreton competion. I would rate him superior to any player in the immortal Mt Isa Side (loaded with foreign internationals) Tough, Clean, Big and Strong just very good. Regards Dan Glendon (Detective Ipswich CIB)
