Biography
Lightweight back-rower came to St George as an 18-year-old from Canowindra on the recommendation of the club's former Test captain Ian Walsh. Fitzgerald built a fine reputation as a determined tackler who got through a mountain of work and was a member of coach Jack Gibson's underrated forward pack which stretched champions Souths in the 1971 grand final. Troubled by knee injury, which forced him to miss thirty weeks of football during the 1973-74 seasons, Fitzgerald took his place in the St George team humbled by Easts in the 1975 grand final but somewhat ironically, joined the Roosters the following year. In 1980 he captained Port Kembla to win the Wollongong premiership under the coaching of former teammate Graeme Langlands.

Peter Fitzgerald was a great player he had it all i just cant understand why he never got a run with the Australia Teams with his school mate Tommy Raudonikis.
