Biography
Forward-turned-winger had an enigmatic career during the 1980s. Carney came to Cronulla from Thirroul and toured Papua New Guinea on the ARL President's tour in 1985 - the year he was the season's leading point-scorer with 194pts (11t, 75g).

I believe dean was a terrific footballer but watching him surf as a teenager I honestly believe he should of been a pro surfer

Been a sharks fan since I was a kid watching the sorensons ist off with favs like Et ,McGaw,gavin Miller, dean carney my favorite in his playing era with the sharks

Dean Carney was a good goofy footer and a terror in the water had some wild sessions in the water him and critter Byrne together good foot baller and kicker and a mte to me, hope your still getting in the water deano always was a larikin , your old mte Paul dirtyface brooks
