Biography

Former Springbok RU Test captain immigrated to Australia in 1996 with the intention of playing for the Wallabies. Strauss, who made the first of 15 Test appearances for South Africa in 1992, played for Cronulla for two seasons while he waited for his Australian residency to be processed. In 1998 he joined the NSW Super 12s team and scored a hat-trick of tries for Australia in his Test debut for the Wallabies against Ireland in June 1999.
