Danny was one of the best young players I had ever seen. A real pity that injury robbed him of a chance to have a real go at the Broncos. I have no doubt the bloke would have played for Australia.

A prodigious talent. A star of the revered Confraternity Shield competition for St Brendans (Central Qld). The youngest debutant for the Brisbane Broncos in his day. A promising career cut short by injury. Cyril Connell, in his celebrated capacity as the imminent Brisbane Broncos talent scout, regarded Bampton as the best he had ever seen.
