Brett is truly a wonderful role model to the younger generation. He is an outstanding sportsmen who is willing to give to others. My son Big E ( Ethan) was lucky enough to meet Brett at a training clinic earlier this year at Cudgen in Kingscliff. He has gone out of his way to keep in contact and even gave Ethan his boots that he signed and his NSW cap when at the BLUES training camp. No words can explain what this means to Ethan. The look on his face when he sees Brett and Brett shakes his hand and says gday mate . Ethan will continue to play football and his idol will always be Brett.

One of the great wingers of all time. I’ll never forget his try for the Kangaroos in the 2013 World Cup final at Old Trafford. Ridiculously short in goal then concrete steps down to the advertising hoardings/fence surrounding the ground. As brave a try as you will ever seen… although his 2014 “miracle try” also pretty good... Sadly for St George supporters he left to play with his twin brother for local rivals Canterbury where he suffered major injuries. Then a final couple of seasons at Easts including a second premiership win in 2019 (first was 2010 for St George). Retired as 4th highest try scorer in Australian rugby league history after another major knee injury. An example to all that you can be a champion player and a brave competitor and also play with honour, even in the professional era. Well played Brett, you are remembered.
