Biography
Souths junior was graded by Easts during his HSC year at Marcellan College Randwick before returning to the Rabbitohs. The talented forward, 'Dally M' Second Rower of the Year in 1980, captained Souths in the early 1980s. Gibbs retired after a seasons with P’matta to concentrate on his career in medicine. He was Manly, NSW and Australian team doctor for much of the 1990s (he had to make the controversial decision to rule Australian captain Wally Lewis out of the 1990 Kangaroo tour) until a change of guard with new Test coach Chris Anderson saw him lose that role.
