Easily one of the fastest players ever ! I have watched rugby league since the early 1970’s . I have two very fond memories of David Michael.
(1) In a Nswrl game against Cronulla at the Sydney Sports Ground; David received the ball in his own in-goal and ran the length of the field to score a super solo try !
(2) In a Nswrl game against St.George at the Sydney Sports Ground ; David literally game from the clouds in defence to tackle Brian Johnson to save what seemed to be a certain try by the St.George fullback ; especially considering how much extra ground or how far behind David Michael was in relation to Brian Johnson . One of the all time great cover tackles!
In my humble opinion if David had not suffered many long term injuries during his career ; the Roosters super fast winger would have had a very illustrious career with the sky having been his only limit. Thanks David for all the great memories . I believe that David Michael was even quicker that his Roosters team mate Kerry Boustead. Now that was no mean feat !

The Sydney-born winger was unlucky not to out-do Steve Gearin with the Greg Brentnall bomb. The ball moved to the right with Gearin blocking Michael’s chance to getting to the ball. All he coyld do was tackle in the hope of Gearin dropping the ball. Faster than Kerry Boustead ? I doubt it. Boustead mowed down Eric Grothe snr after coming across field which, in my mind, was pace personified. Nice bio though. :)
