Barry Nugent was an extremely
.y fast winger from Mulgildie in Qld.
I met him when he came down to Canberra as several of us from Queensland did in 1961.Barry played left wing in the A Grade side and was a regular try scorer against clubs like Goulburn Workers, Goulburn United, Queenbian Blues and Yass etc. He also represented Monaro against the visiting South African side in 1964 and the1963 French touring side .I will always remember.ber when the South African side were running down the ramp onto the field.Barry said ' look how big their legs and ankles are- but it didn't deter him and he went on to star as usual. Another Quee slander who came down with us - Ken Taylor played fullback that day and had a blinder.
