Biography
Tall Souths forward represented NSW on the 1922 tour of NZ before playing in all three Tests against England two years later. Alf ‘Itchy’ O’Connor, the brother of Souths’ Test forward Frank O’Connor, partnered George Treweek in the second row during the 1924 Ashes series. The following year he played in five interstate matches for NSW and was a member of the ‘fantastic five’ forward pack (the lock would stand out as an extra five-eighth) that champion Souths sides utilised to win premierships in 1925-26. An Australian Test selector in 1946, Alf O’Connor died in 1970, age 69.
