Biography

Newcastle lock represented Country whilst playing for Norths Newcastle in 1950 before coming to Wests. Collinson was selected on the 1952-53 Kangaroo Tour despite having not yet represented NSW – his good form as the club charged into the semi-final earned his selection (ironically Collinson missed Wests’ grand final win over Souths that year because the squad had already set sail for England.) The tall back-rower appeared in three Tests against Great Britain and France on the tour as well as 17 other matches. Collinson took on the captain-coach role at Thirroul in the Wollongong competition in 1954 and later moved to Kempsey.
