Biography

Tamworth five-eighth played with Temora in the 1953 season after two seasons as a teenage prodigy with the Easts club. Henry’s good country form with Forbes in 1955 won him a spot in the NSW team and he was selected in Australia's First Test team against France. Australia won the match 20-8 but Henry missed the return clash because of injury. With the series poised at one Test-all following France's Second Test victory in Brisbane, Henry was recalled to play the decider in the centres but found himself as the focus of a startling selection controversy. After passing a last-minute fitness Test, he was dropped from the side as the team prepared to take the field because selectors feared that he was carrying a back injury. (Henry was replaced by Dick Poole but Australia ultimately lost the match, 8-5, and the series.) Henry's only other Test appearance was in the Third Test against NZ after joining Wests in 1956. In 1958 the lightweight backline player took his place in the centres in Wests' grand final loss to St George.

I saw Darcy Henry play for Brothers club in Rockhampton. He was captain/coach. There is no mention of that here.
