I have known Dud Beattie personally as a neighbor and he is not only a great Australian sportstar, but a gentleman who always seemed to have time for others. He is a man with compassion for others and a man who represents what I think is the true character of the model Australian.

Back in 1980 I was working underground at an Ipswitch colliery as a part of a two man research team..I was being bullied by my co-worker and he threatened to " deck me" Out of the darkness comes this big fellow demanding to know what was going on. When he could see what was going on he told the bully he would have to deal with him first. The bully backed down quickly.. I was told later that day the gentleman was Dud Beattie. Thank you sir.
