Biography
Gundagai-born Geoff Connell went to Longreach Queensland as a youngster (where he represented Queensland Under 17s) before his family moved to Sydney. After playing in several junior representative teams with Balmain Connell made his first grade debut in 1966 but returned to Queensland to complete his National Service and played with Brisbane Easts from 1967-69. A mobile five-eighth or back row forward, he represented Queensland in 1967 before being called into Australia's Third Test team against NZ. Connell missed selection with the Kangaroos that year and although he played for Queensland against Great Britain in 1968, he did not play in another Test match. He returned to Balmain in 1970 but was released by the club the following year after suffering a recurring shoulder injury. Snapped up by Canterbury, he was a senior member of the young team that went down to Easts in the 1974 grand final.

I worked with Geoff at tip top many years ago and also trained trotters at the same time as he did and i must say he was one of the nicest persons i ever met and a good friend also.
