Mark Thomas had electric speed and accellaration. If he had gone to the Sydney Competition for experience in his younger days could have been a regular in the Australian team but suffered from playing in the then inferior Brisbane Club Rugby League Competition and when he played for Australia the NSW Players cut him out of the action because they did not think he belonged in the team.

Exactly right...I've always remembered watching him in his first game for Australia and scoring an early try, I think the first time he touched the ball. From them on, Cronin just cut him right out of the action, throwing pass after pass to whoever he could find that wasn't named Mark Thomas! I dont recall him touching the ball again for the whole match. I loved watching Cronin play but that day he left me feeling gutted.
