Potentially, with his speed, he could have been an Australian version of Martin Offiah. Unfortunately, he had Luke Ricketson playing inside him in the centres at the Roosters, who never got him a decent ball so he could show that.

At Parramatta, his strike rate showed what he was capable of. A bit of a lost talent. But one of the genuine nice guys of rugby league off the field.

Shane whereat in my view was probably one of the two fastest players in rugby league in the 90s. Darren Albert no1 whereat number 2!!! I remember there was one game whereat playing for parra against Brisbane he ran the whole length of the field and run around Darren Lockyer (Brisbane fullback) n scored an blistering try. He simply beat Lockyer wit his speed!

He beat Darrin Albert in a sprint race. He was clearly the quickest player of his time. Albert and Dallis were 5 metres behind him in a match race. No cotest.
