Biography
Former Kiwi Test lock (9 Tests in two tours of Australia in 1956 and 1959) was Balmain's first ‘international’ signing when he came to the club in 1961. Percy later captain-coached Parkes in 1964 and Yass in 1965 before his eventual retirement. Author Bruce Montgomerie in his excellent book on NZ Test players, Those Who Played, notes that Percy’s son Matthew was a member of Australia II’s crew that won the America’s Cup in 1983.
