Biography
Newtown halfback played in grand final losses to Souths in 1954-55. Whitton represented NSW in three interstate series but narrowly missed selection with the 1956-57 Kangaroos. In the 1960 pre-season, Whitton supported a Newtown players’ strike regarding increased contract payments. After being dropped to reserve grade in 1961 he quit the club and became captain-coach of Wauchope.
