Kenny Jones was the reason the tackles count started, Jack Gibson would pay him extra if he did Arties tackles. So Artie could save his energy for offloading the ball in attack.

A lot of people don’t remember Ken Jones but he was a “ workaholic “ on the field. A tacking machine. He was a magnificent player.

    Where is he now ?

Fortunately played with Kenny in A Grade for Bondi United in 1970 & played President Cup also with him, unfortunately for me carrier was cut short. He was a leader on the field & a great guy off the field. Hope he is in good health. Cheers Kenny.

I played against Ken for several yrs i was the capt of Bondi Sharks and he was with Bondi United. He was a brilliant defencive player i remember 1 game at Waverley oval we had a few words in a tackle and he punched me in front of ref. Needless to say he got sent off.. He went on to success in 1st grade. I moved clubs and saw out my junior career with the Coogee Wombats in the bunnies comp. Great memories
