Biography

Souths junior showed great promise as a five-eighth and lock in his three seasons at Wests. Dymock's reputation grew further at C’bury in 1994 - his high work rate and never-say-die attitude was the perfect foil for long-serving captain Terry Lamb. He played lock in the Bulldogs' 36-12 loss to Canberra in the grand final but held down the pivot role (with Lamb at halfback) in the early part of the 1995 season. Dymock was one of four C’bury players who reneged on their Super League contracts (citing unfair inducement which was later supported in the courts) and signed with the embattled ARL. Although destined to leave the club, his organisational play was integral in the Bulldogs’ premiership success that year. Dymock produced a dominant display in C’bury’s 17-4 grand final win against Manly and he made his Australian debut in the Centenary World Cup competition. Linking with clubmates Dean Pay, Jason Smith and Jarrod McCracken at P’matta Dymock represented State of Origin in 1996 before continuing his Test career against farcical international opposition at the height of the Super League war. While continuing to shoulder the high expectations of Eels’ fans during his five seasons with the club, injuries limited his appearances at rep level. Declining to captain the Eels in 2000, he left the club to join the London Broncos at the end of the year. Dymock was unable to take on the captaincy of Tonga in the 2000 World Cup because of injury and he later returned to Sydney and was an assistant to Ricky Stuart at the Roosters and Cronulla.
