Match Notes
Auckland was the only Super League side in this round who was committed to providing two full teams (first grade and reserve grade) to be available to play in round 1, as was required by the ARL. With Brisbane not offering the same commitment, the ARL assured Warriors' chief executive Ian Robson that they would not be required to physically send the players named (from the local Auckland club competition) to Brisbane's home venue and would be awarded the two competition points for Brisbane's forfeit. It is understood that no team list was ever publicly announced for this match by Auckland.
