The SMH report from February 16, 1986 reports the crowd as "about 8000". It also fails to show correct scoring detail, only suggesting that St George scored one try and three goals in total (but report a 12-nil win). Steve Linnane (St George) and Brett Ross (South Sydney) were both sent to the sin-bin on the 32nd minute. Ross attempted to return to the field at the commencement of the second half but was ordered back to the bin by referee Mick Stone.
