Match Notes

Hambly broke his nose after 10 mins and although against the rules Australia sent out Patterson as a replacement and in an attempt to fool the referee he wore Hambly's jersey and wore plaster over his nose.

Australia claimed the Warrington officials told them to replace him the Australian managers were called before the Aust Board of Control to explain & the RFL warned that no further replacement could be made during the tour.
