Biography
Bullock-like centre/winger emulated the deeds of older brother Bobby Dimond when, as a teenager, represented Australia in all three Tests against Great Britain in 1958. Originally from Dapto Dimond joined Wests in 1958 and was a devastating runner with the strength of a forward. He played in all four of the club’s grand final losses to St George (1957 & 1961-63), the first of these at five-eighth. A 1963-64 Kangaroo, Dimond played in all six Tests on tour - the highlight being his two tries in the 50-12 ‘Swinton Massacre’ that secured the Ashes. He made one more Test appearance, in the deciding Third Test against Great Britain in 1966, and produced a typically powerful display to help Australia retain the Ashes. Dimond, who holds the career record for tries with Wests (84t), saw out his career with Souths Newcastle and finally Maitland. In 1969 he represented Country and was still playing in the Newcastle competition well into the early 1970s.

I first saw Peter in 1958 at the old Pratten Park, at Ashfield, and I was 11 years old.
Peter was, and still is, the greatest rugby league winger to ever don a rugby league jersey. Many thanks Peter, for all my boyhood memories of what the great game was once all about.

Peter will be remembered as the toughest backline player in the greatest era of domestic State and International Rugby League.

My best memories of Pete was when he lined up against Billy Boston, you could feel the Ground Move !
