Match Notes
Because of the wind and rain that swept the ground, the halftime break for this game went for 25 minutes. Referee Laurie Bruyeres, St.George Captain Graeme Langlands and Eastern Suburbs Captain Arthur Beetson all went to inspect the pitch during this break. In the end, a vote was taken. Langlands and Bruyeres both voted for the game to continue while Beetson voted for it to be abandoned. Langlands admitted after the game that he was originally going to vote for the game to also be abandoned.
