Match Notes
Group 1 lost fullback Laurie Birmingham on Thursday due the flu and was replaced by John Walsh, captain Gary Dobrich also withdrew and was replaced at halfback by Primo Cassagrande with Graeme Atherton the new captain. Then on the morning of the game 3 players who had played the City Country game in Sydney on Saturday withdrew hooker Bert Elford, five-eighth Graeme Atherton & winger Ian Kennedy they were replaced by Kevin Byrnes, Russell Parandes & Kevin Jones the new captain was John Walsh.
Angelo Crema was originally selected for Qld in the 2nd row but withdrew and was replaced by Gary Pearson.
Derek Brewer replaced Kevin Jones late in the 1st half, Kevin Weaver replaced Richard Roberts at halftime, Russell Parandes left the field with 15 minutes remaining but could not be replaced.
Geoff Connell was carried from the field with 10 minutes to go it seems he was not replaced.
